After graduating from the prestigious ENSAAMA applied arts school in 1991, Laurent Nogues decided to dedicate his career to preserving the heritage of Créations Fournier, a printing house his father ran for many years.
In 1994, he founded his own company—Créanog—based in Rue de Rennes in Paris. In 1998, rapid development led the workshop to be set up in the new Parisian hot spot for craftsmanship and the applied arts : the Viaduc des Arts.
Laurent Nogues is on a constant quest to explore new horizons. The Sensitinéraires collection of tactile books developed for the publishing house Editions du Patrimoine is a great example of this. Raised images created by the master craftsman allowed visually impaired readers to enjoy the beauty of France’s cultural and natural heritage, imbuing the technique of embossing with new meaning. Laurent Nogues was awarded the Liliane Bettencourt craftsmanship prize—the “Prix pour l’Intelligence de la Main” for his efforts in this area.
In 2011, Laurent Nogues was awarded the title of “ Maître d’Art” (Master Craftsman) by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication. He has also been a member of the “Cercle des Entreprises du Patrimoine Vivant” (Living Heritage Companies) since 2008 and a member of “ Grands Ateliers de France” (Great French Workshops) since 2010.
